GREETINGS from BISHOP JOHN G. INNIS
Dear Fellow United Methodists and Friends,
I greet and welcome you in the name of Jesus Christ to the website of the Liberia United Methodist Empowerment Foundation. As we prepare to celebrate the birth of our Savior and as we begin ministry in the year 2012 I invite you to join with the Liberia United Methodist Church in a powerful ministry.
The purpose of the Foundation is to prepare for the financial future of The United Methodist Church in Liberia. When supported generously the Foundation will provide spirit-filled and Christ-centered services to our congregations, institutions and ministries.
The United Methodist Church has a great future in our endeavor to Make Disciples of Jesus Christ for the Transformation of Liberia and the World. To celebrate our mission I invite all United Methodists and friends of The United Methodist Church to faithfully and relentlessly contribute to Liberia United Methodist Empowerment Foundation (LUMEF) from the depths of our hearts. Remember the scriptural encouragement, “The more you give, the more blessings you will receive.” In the name of Jesus Christ, let us bless our church with our financial gifts and services for its growth and development.
The Foundation, the first of its kind in the West Africa Central Conference, was created in February 2001 at the 163rd Session of the Liberia Annual Conference held at the First United Methodist Church in Kakata, Migibi County. This was my first Annual Conference Session after my election on December 16, 2000 at the First United Methodist Church in Monrovia.
I am thankful and grateful to all United Methodists and friends both at home and abroad who have, over the years, supported LUMEF so graciously. I am also thankful to the past and present leadership of the Board of Directors for their commitment to the goals and aspirations to the Foundation. However, let us all be reminded that LUMEF is an ongoing ministry of the church. We must continue to support it up to the end of time.
LUMEF is the financial future of United Methodism in Liberia. It deserves our financial support whether big or small. We can and will support LUMEF through the strength of Jesus Christ.
For those of you living abroad, you may send your financial contribution to the General Board of Global Ministries, 475 Riverside Drive, New York, NY 10115, Advance # 3020675. For those of us in Liberia, please make your donation to LUMEF at LBDI Bank, Liberia Dollar donations: 01-404-1588-0501
US Dollar donations: 02-404-1588-0502.
May God bless you as you read through the pages of this website. Be moved. Be excited. Be generous.
Yours in Christ,
Bishop John G. Innis
The United Methodist Church
