The Laity Session of the Liberia Annual Conference held Tuesday February 7, 2012.
Our Calling is in Our Baptism:
United in Thought and Purpose
Address to the Laity by Beth M. Crissman
Lay persons attending the 179th Annual Session of the Liberia Annual Conference in Gbarnga City, Bong County has been called upon to recognize that their calling to ministry in the United Methodist Church is in their baptism. The call was contained in the keynote address delivered by Rev. Beth Crissman during the Laity Session held on the Tuesday, February 07, 2012 from the text 1 Corinthians 1:4-17 speaking on the theme:”Be United in Thought and Purpose.” She called on the Laity of the Liberia Annual Conference to reference the holiness of their gathering. “Understand that you are united in the calling of holy conferencing.” She reminded those present we can disagree as long as our differing voices and opinions are “in tune” with Jesus Christ and our common mission and purpose in Christ and as the United Methodist Church. Rev. Crissman, a United Methodist Clergywoman, urged participants at the Laity Session to work towards building each other up in love. “Do not tear each other down and stop arguing among yourself” Rev. Crissman concluded.
